Would you like a side of candy with your ice cream? Chances are if you're an Illinois resident, you have no problem saying yes. 

Listen. I love dessert.

I think I've always loved dessert, I can check with my parents, but to my knowledge, I've always associated taking a break with Kit-Kats and not actually sitting down and zoning out.

Can I blame my sweet tooth on my genes? On my grandpa who once ate almost an entire cake on his birthday? On my dad who love to grab a plate of cookies with a side of beer?

Or can I just blame it on geography?

According to a new study, Ilinois is the second most sweet-obsessed state in the entire country... so I guess it has nothing to do with my dad or my grandpa.

Now remember, most of these studies are about search trends, not so much about actual consumption. So maybe, just maybe, those of us in Illinois aren't actually eating all the sweets, we just WANT to eat them.

But I'm eating them for sure.

The most sweet-obsessed state in the U.S. is Pennsylvania... which is home to the land of Kisses and Twizzlers... Hershey, so that makes complete sense!

Following Illinois, we have California, Vermont, Hawaii and New York. So... basically the most fun states and Vermont, the home of Ben & Jerry's.
