The end of summer is usually sad, but this year it’s getting downright terrifying. Six Flags Great America just announced plans for Fright Fest 2025, running weekends and select weeknights from Sept. 13 through Nov. 2, and they’re calling it “all-new nightmares.”

This year’s Fright Fest features three haunted mazes inspired by major Hollywood horror franchises: The Conjuring Universe, SAW: Legacy of Terror, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And let me tell you, The Conjuring alone would have me running for the parking lot, I don’t do demon or devil possession movies. Nope. I’ll hold your coat while you go in.

New Scare Zones Around Every Corner

Seven “scare zones” will be scattered across the park, three of them brand new for 2025. Translation: You’ll never know when something is going to jump out at you. The park says, “fear might find you” anywhere… which is exactly why I’ll be sticking to funnel cakes.

If you’re like me and prefer your heart rate under 200 bpm, there’s still plenty to enjoy: rides in the dark, live entertainment, Kids Boo Fest, and an Oktoberfest food festival.

Tickets for park admission and haunted mazes start at $90, making it a perfect day trip from Rockford. Whether you’re in it for the scares or just the snacks, Fright Fest 2025 is one Illinois Halloween event you can’t miss… unless you’re hiding from The Conjuring with me.
