Illinois Can Experience One of Chicago’s Most Popular Attractions For Free This Month
A popular Chicago attraction is looking to make a splash with Illinois residents throughout August.
The Shedd Aquarium is bringing back Night Dives according to a report from WGN.
Illinois residents visiting the aquarium on specific nights throughout August will be admitted for free.
Shedd does require advanced reservations for Night Dives. Online reservations can be placed HERE.
According to the Shedd website, Night Dives is part of the aquarium's longstanding Illinois Resident Free Day program.
Residents will need to show a valid Illinois ID in order to be admitted during the events.
Upcoming Night Dives are scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m.:
- Aug. 10
- Aug. 15
- Aug. 17
- Aug. 22
- Aug. 24
- Aug. 29
- Aug. 31
The last available entry time during the Night Dives will be 7 p.m.
There will be an animal spotlight at 5:30 p.m. during each of the Night Dives featuring Pacific white-sided dolphins, beluga whales, penguins and California sea lions.
The outdoor Stingray Touch exhibit also will be open until 7 p.m. each night.
According to numbers released by Shedd Aquarium, the facility welcomes nearly 2 million guests each year.
