Rockford is the place to be this weekend, and as someone who loves this city, I can’t help but get excited about all the incredible events happening.

Every summer I've live downtown, I’m always reminded of why I love living here. There’s always something fun to do with friends, family, or for a date night! And hey, this weekend is definitely no exception.

I try to stay as up-to-date as possible on everything going on around town, but sometimes there's so much it's hard to keep track!  That's a great problem to have!

5 Reasons You Need To Be In Rockford This Weekend

The last Friday Night Flix at Davis Park is on Friday, August 9th.

Bring a blanket, snacks, get your face painted, and enjoy a movie under the stars with tons of other locals.  Shrek starts at dusk—perfect for a relaxing evening.

The Rockford Boxing Classic at the Rockford City Market Pavilion on Saturday, August 10th, is a must-see.

It's a free-admission event with food and beverage vendors, music, and a 50/50 raffle!  Local police officers, firefighters, and others will be going head-to-head in the ring.

The Boone County Fair runs through August 11th.

It’s a great place to take the family, indulge in fried fair food, enjoy rides, entertainment, and check out local booths, too.  Magic shows, axe throwing, wood cutting. pageants and so much more will be there!

Have you been to Disco Chicken yet?

Head to the rooftop for gorgeous views and delicious drinks. It’s an ideal spot to unwind in downtown this weekend!

Finally, one of my favorite things to do is explore the beautiful murals around the Rockford region.
