I'll never understand how something as amazing as this gets considered "weird."

It's astounding to me that other cities and states haven't adopted this amazing food combination.

24/7 Tempo listed The Strangest Food From Every State and while some of their designations are fine, I thought Illinois' was a bit absurd (Pork Brains, anyone?).

Wisconsin's entry was Cheese Curds. Really? 24/7 Tempo says "Cheese curds aren't all that strange..." telling me all I needed to know about what they thought about that stuff.

If that doesn't make sense to you, you're going to blow a gasket when you realize Illinois' "strangest food" is Spaghetti Pizza.

Spaghetti is good. Pizza is good. Are the two together double-good? A lot of people think so. Angelo’s Pizzeria, which has three locations west of Chicago, claims credit for the invention. Sausage and mozzarella are also involved.

Jake. H. reviewed Angelo's on Yelp saying "We did order the spaghetti pizza and loved it" but Valeri D. says "Any restaurant that would combine spaghetti and pizza doesn't know Italian food."

People come from far and wide to try the spaghetti pizza at Angelo's so it might be safe to say those comments are kind of an outlier.

That said, for my money, I'd take the spaghetti pizza at Al & Leda's. It's one of the greatest pizzas I have ever had.

Here's the best part, you can try both because they are located in the same town.

Al & Leda's is at 325 West Everett Street while Angelo's is located at 800 North Galena Avenue both in Dixon, Illinois.
