
The Illinois Law You Probably Break Without Even Knowing It
I see this happen all the time—and not gonna lie, I probably do it all the time without thinking about it. I'm totally sure you do it every day.

When nobody is around, you're way more tempted to slowly roll through the stop sign right? Right. Even though you thought it's a harmless thing to do, little do you know you are actually breaking the law.

Yep, rolling stops are 100% illegal in Illinois.
I thought, "I'll never get pulled over for doing a rolling stop. Cops have better things to do." Then, I pulled up to the 4-way stop near Edgebrook shopping center, saw another car roll through the 4-way stop, and a cop comes around the corner and gets him.
Some unfortunate luck. Better them than me, though!
Ever since I saw that person get pulled over, and probably issued a citation, I now make sure my foot is all the way down on the brake and my MPH says "0". So, if a cop does pull me over, I can show them my DashCam and prove I did a full stop!
Again, it is, in fact, illegal in Illinois to do a rolling stop at an intersection, whether other cars are around or not. They're cracking down this month, too.
