Snowplow drivers are critical to keeping Illinois roads safe during winter. With more than 45,000 lane miles to maintain, IDOT relies on these drivers to respond quickly to snow and ice events, often working nights, weekends, and holidays. It’s demanding work, but it plays a key role in keeping the state moving.

Requirements to Apply

Applicants must hold a Class A or B commercial driver’s license with proper endorsements (X or N) and no air brake restrictions. A pre-employment physical, vision test, drug and alcohol screening, and background check are also required. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
