This New Pizza Ranking Has Illinois Fans Fired Up
Are Pizza Rankings Getting it Wrong About Illinois?
How is it that a state so rich in amazing pizza has only two joints ranked in the top 50 in America? Am I overstating the brilliance of the pizza in Chicago, Rockford, and all the other cities and towns in Illinois?
To me, you can’t do much better than pizza in the Land of Lincoln, but maybe I’m wrong.

50 Top Pizza, the unofficial guide to the best pizzerias in the world, just released its 50 Top Pizza USA list, and it’s not good news for Illinois.
That’s because only Robert’s Pizza & Dough Company and one other joint ranked in the top 50 overall.

Robert’s Pizza and one other restaurant in Chicago land the Top 50
Ranked 8th, which is two spots down from last year, Robert’s Pizza & Dough Company, is 98% recommended by customers, with reviewers calling out the great atmosphere and “unique pizza combinations.”
Others call Robert’s, located at 465 North McClurg Court, “a bit pricey but worth it.” That said, you kind of have to expect it to cost a few bucks because, one, it’s in Chicago, where everything is expensive, and two, it’s on the list of the greatest pizza joints in America. That normally comes with a price, just saying.
The other Illinois pizza joint ranked on the list is also in Chicago, Coda di Volpe. Ranked 43rd overall, Coda di Volpe is at 3335 North Southport Avenue in the Lakeview neighborhood.
If you had a vote for the best pizza joint in America, what would it be?
