JB Pritzker Weighs In on Viral Iced Coffee Job Interview Debate
There's a viral question circulating the internet about bringing iced coffee to a job interview. Is it unprofessional?
If you're an iced coffee kinda person, you may want to pay a little attention before you want into your next interview holding your favorite drink.
A viral debate recently took over TikTok after a corporate recruiter posted about candidates showing up to job interviews with iced coffees or iced lattes. Her argument was that carrying a coffee can make an interview seem too casual, almost like it's just another stop on your list of errands.

The post sparked a huge conversation online about professionalism, generational differences and all the tiny unwritten rules people are apparently supposed to follow when interviewing for a job.
Now, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has entered the iced coffee chat.
Pritzker joked about the debate in a social media video, saying he has no problem with someone bringing an iced coffee to an interview, as long as they bring one for him, too.

The internet, on the other hand, has been going back and forth over whether an iced coffee really says anything about how seriously someone takes a job interview. Some agree with the recruiter and others think judging someone based on what they're drinking is taking interview etiquette a little too far.
Personally, I would love if someone brought a coffee to an interview because it shows they're pumping caffeine into their body to prepare to kick butt during their shift. That's how I see it anyway!
Career experts have pointed out practical concerns, like spills, noisy ice or having something in your hands that could become a distraction.
