The community is calling for help after an Illinois hockey player and DJ, Aaron Hodge, was brutally attacked and robbed after leaving work in Chicago recently.

Never take life for granted because it can really change in a blink of an eye.  Aaron Hodge, a Chicago resident, was leaving a DJing shift in the city a few weekends ago when his life turned upside down.

From the GoFundMe:

"a very good friend of ours was assaulted over the weekend. I’m sharing his pictures so you can see the significance of his injuries due to an assault and robbery. He sustained some very serious injuries to his face which will require surgery followed by 8 to 10 weeks of healing."

Aaron was photographed with a feeding tube and serious injuries in a photo posted online.  Friends and family wished him a speedy recovery and tons of prayers.

One Facebook user, Katherine Burtsaid,

"Someone who has the biggest heart and always positive vibes was attacked this weekend leaving work down in River North... Please Find it in your heart this holiday season to help his recovery if at all possible."

The GoFundMe is still active for anybody who would like to donate.  His teammate has since updated the donation page saying, "Aaron is in good spirits wants us to let you know he is stable and out of the ICU."

Their goal is $30,000 - they've already raised $20,000 in donations!

Aaron posted update videos since being discharged from the hospital thanking everybody who has checked in with him.  He also said it is going to be a long road to recovery with a liquid diet, rehabilitation, and therapy.

An investigation is still ongoing and Aaron will discuss details when he’s 100% ready, but his support system is asking to give him some help during this time of need.
