Ranking the Best Cities to Unwind and De-Stress in America

However, the wellness app Welltory put together a list of places considered some of the best destinations to relax and de-stress, perfect for a little vacation "after the vacation."

To figure it out, researchers looked at TripAdvisor's top 25 U.S. destinations and compared them based on five factors: air quality, safety, affordability, access to green space, and nighttime temperatures conducive to sleep.

Galena Takes Second Place: Illinois' Ultimate Relaxing Getaway

That's all to say, a city in Illinois was ranked second overall and it's only about 90 minutes from Rockford. . This place is praised by visitors for the kind of stuff northern Illinois is known for: historic streets, bed and breakfasts, antique shops, and one of the best small-town atmospheres you'll find.

I'm talking about Galena, it's a great spot for a weekend getaway and, apparently, an amazing place to relax and de-stress.

Only Mount Desert Island in Maine was ranked higher, and it has Acadia National Park in its backyard. So, once you get home from the family vacation and need a vacation from your vacation, apparently Galena is waiting.
