Whether it's the big fireworks show in your neighborhood or your neighbors and their store-bought boom, fireworks can be very traumatizing for your dog. The safest place for your dog is at home during all the fireworks craziness.

Being at home with them is the most ideal situation, but that still won't guarantee they will not make a run for it in fear. You don't have to be a dog owner for too long to discover they don't like loud noises.

If you're not going to be home with them during the fireworks, there are a few things you should consider doing while you're gone.

At home, you should:

  • Place some music to drown out the sound of the fireworks
  • Consider using a Thundershirt
  • Put baby gates up by exit doors
  • Secure them in one room or in their kennel
