Remember These 3 Christmas Cartoons Made Popular By WGN?

We had a remembrance of some classic Christmas films this morning after Dwyer talked about them coming up on a 24/7 Classic Christmas channel he found, specifically a few stop animated films made so ahead of their time, they were and are only available in black and white formats.

All three of these were made popular starting in the 50s by the legacy station out of Chicago, WGN-TV, and are still shown in tradition at least once a year.

The first is Hardrock, Coco and Joe — The Three Little Dwarfs, a 1951 stop motion cartoon. This one follows three of Santa's helpers who ride on Santa's sleigh every Christmas. It's a short, running just about 2 minutes and 45 seconds. It was typically broadcast alongside the other two shorts mentioned below.

Frosty The Snowman (1950) would also run as part of this trio of shorts, with the classic story of the snowman who came to life one day.

Suzy Snowflake was the personification of a playful snowflake.
