Two words: Pumpkin. Spice.

If card companies created Valentine's Day, then coffee companies created fall because nothing is as rampant from August-November as pumpkin spice.

The flavor is in everything, even stuff it decidedly shouldn't be in. There is even a pumpkin spice-inspired engagement ring that can be yours for about $13,000.

Pumpkin isn't my vibe (don't kill me) but it looks like the Midwest is really trying to get creative with stuff we put pumpkin spice in.

Just Pumpkin Spice The Whole Country

Delish looked at Google Trends from the end of last fall to see what pumpkin spice stuff we're all searching the most. And let me tell you, some of this is way out from leftfield.

Iowa likes pumpkin spice brioche. From the recipes I found, it's really meant to be a breakfast bread, kinda like French toast.

Illinois likes pumpkin spice pudding. This may be the easiest one. Most recipes I found were just instant vanilla pudding mix combined with pumpkin pie spice.

Wisconsin is into pumpkin spice dump cake. Gotta love the idea of just throwing stuff into a dish then putting it in the oven.

So really all three of these are viable pumpkin spice things. Weirder ones in the country include:

  • Pumpkin spice Red Vines
  • Pumpkin spice Oreos
  • Pumpkin spice Spam
  • Pumpkin spice tamales
  • Pumpkin spice empanadas
  • Pumpkin spice Goldfish
  • Pumpkin spice beef jerky

We're really stretching it with the whole pumpkin spice thing.

At least with a lot of things on the map (like cream cheese) it makes sense as a seasonal flavor since so many of them are dessert items. But hey, if you love it, go all in on pumpkin spice stuff while it's that time of the year.
