Those lucky enough to win big by playing Powerball know the rush that comes with winning. Someone in a small town in Illinois is feeling that rush but we may never know who the winner is.
If you recently went through Rochelle, Illinois, and purchased a Powerball ticket at the Love's Travel Stop there, you might be $1 million richer.
$1 Million Powerball Winner In Illinois
Last week, the Illinois Lottery announced that someone in Illinois is celebrating after winning $1 million in the Monday, Nov. 13th Powerball drawing.
The winning Powerball ticket was purchased at Love’s Travel Stop, located at 400 Steward Rd. in Rochelle, for Monday night’s drawing. The lucky winner matched all five numbers, 24-33-35-37-42, to score the million-dollar prize.
Wade Embree, manager at Love’s Travel Stop in Rochelle shared in the announcement,
“Rochelle isn’t a huge town, we have a population of just over 9,000. Since we opened, residents here have done a fantastic job supporting our store. We are grateful to be located in such a kind and caring community.”
Embree has been the manager at this Love’s location since it opened about five years ago.
For selling the winning ticket, Love’s Travel Stop will receive a bonus of one percent of the prize amount, or $10,000. When asked what Love’s plans to do with the bonus, Embree said
“I’m sure we will put that bonus to good use, making some updates and improvements to our store.”
So far this year, eight Illinois Lottery players have won $1 million or more playing Powerball, half of which were in September.
In total, over 13,000 winning tickets were purchased by Illinois Lottery players for the Monday, November 13 Powerball drawing.
The Illinois Lottery encourages all lucky winners to write their name on the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they’re ready to claim their prize. Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize.
