Indiana Now Ranked Among the Top 10 Best States to Drive In?
Somehow, Indiana managed to steal a spot on the list of the top 10 best states in which to drive. There are solid reasons behind the ranking, but I still have questions.
It's safe to say I've spent a good bit of time on Indiana roads, from all the way down in Evansville, through Indianapolis, and even up to Fort Wayne a time or two. The funny thing is, all of those cities were recently listed as the most dangerous in which to drive in Indiana. That said, the Hoosier State as a whole actually finds itself in the top 10 best states to take a cruise. This latest ranking was compiled by WalletHub, which analyzed factors like the cost of owning a vehicle, traffic, infrastructure, safety, as well as access to vehicles and vehicle maintenance.
The No. 1 Best State for Driving in the U.S.
When it came to the best state for drivers, that honor was bestowed upon Kansas. Apparently, the state has some of the safest roads in the entire country, along with some of the most well-maintained motorways. WalletHub also notes that drivers tend to stay relatively well-behaved, as the Sunflower State has the sixth-lowest prevalence of speeding, along with relatively few drivers who accelerate aggressively or brake harshly. I wonder if that mood changes any after a Kansas City Chiefs loss?

Why Indiana is Now the Third-Best State to Drive In
Indiana also ranked fairly high on the list, claiming the No. 3 spot out of all 50 states. Believe it or not, the Hoosier State boasts the second-best road quality and the ninth-lowest traffic congestion in the country. It also takes road safety very seriously, with the fourth-strictest driving laws. However, one has to wonder if construction traffic was a variable in this study. I drive U.S. 41 from Gibson County to Evansville every day, and the road quality is pretty rough due to all the construction work. Additionally, traffic on the way home is always congested. It's a nightmare.
