I had no idea that black bears had military aspirations, but that's apparently the case for one of these creatures currently touring Illinois as he reportedly tried to break into Scott Air Force Base.

It's no secret that bears have suddenly become a common sight in southern Illinois as there have been reports in Belleville, Columbia and other small towns. I saw Scott Air Force Base in Illinois share this interesting Facebook status.

Mike Churchill shared this drone video of the black bear in Caseyville, Illinois which is only about 20 minutes from Scott Air Force Base.

This might very well be the same black bear that was spotted ringing a door bell in southern Illinois, too.

As the Air Force post said, it's important to leave these bears (or bear) alone and not approach or try to feed the animal. If they think you are a reliable food source, they'll stick around and that rarely ends well for the bears.
