There is one Illinois state park that has many hidden caves and waterfalls and it was there that a park ranger claims a 'ghostly' creature was found. There are many eyewitnesses that claim this story is true.

This creepy encounter was recently shared by the YouTube channel Lilith Dread. It comes courtesy of an Illinois park ranger who described what happened that convinced them never to go to a certain location ever again.

The ranger did not name the park, but I'm fairly certain I know which one they're describing. Would bet anything this happened at Starved Rock State Park. It's full of waterfalls and more than a few caves in the area. The park ranger said that it was a recent summer when they were getting reports from hikers about something strange in one of those caves.

The ranger dismissed it initially as someone with a vivid imagination, but after 4 or 5 came forward with stories of something strange in one area, she decided to investigate. The caves in that park are unmapped for the most part with no artificial lighting, so she tied a rope outside the cave to hold onto so she could find her way out. She had her own light to see what was in that cave that was so peculiar.

After walking into the darkness of the cave holding onto the rope as a guide, she eventually came across an area that had something odd. It looked like a nest. This was not a place where you'd find a bird and the nest was quite large. She instinctively knew she needed to get out of this cave, but there was a problem. She felt the rope she was holding onto suddenly go slack.

With the limited light source she had, she somehow managed to find her way out of the cave and noticed that where her rope had been tied, it was now unattached. Someone or something had untied it. She knew she was being watched.

As she made a break for it, she looked back at the cave and saw...something. She described it as a 'ghostly creature' that was barely visible in the light. It seemed to retreat back into the cave and she immediately ran back to her campsite.

What exactly did those hikers see in that cave and WHAT was responsible for that nest? My guess is the answer can be found in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois.
