Movers Say Numbers Moving to Missouri Have Fallen Drastically
Trends are a funny thing. One moment you're popular and the next you're not. When it comes to people choosing to move, it appears Missouri is becoming way less popular based on brand new data from movers.
When it comes to moving, you would think Uhaul would know who's going where. I wish I had a nickel for every Uhaul truck I've driven from one side of the country to another. If I never see another, it will be too soon, but I digress.
Uhaul just released their brand new 2024 ranking for the states where people are moving to the most. Spoiler Alert: Missouri is nowhere near the top of the list.
You would have to scroll for miles to find Missouri on the movers list and the numbers have fallen big time from last year. In 2022, Missouri was ranked 15th in America for being a moving destination. Now, in 2024 looking back at the numbers from 2023, Missouri is now way down at 28th.
Don't laugh, Illinois. You're at 48th which (believe it or not) is an improvement (by 1) from the previous year.
What's the takeaway? People move for a variety of reasons. We moved back to Missouri a few years ago to be near family and friends. Most go where the job opportunities are. The ebb and flow of what parts of the country are popular will move with employment more often than not. But, Texas and Florida are popular for sure. If there's a surprise in the group, it's the Carolinas. Has no one heard of hurricanes?
