In July, Illinois Police Academy Graduates Get a $90,000 Bonus
I have had many friends and family who either have or currently do serve in law enforcement and I don't know any of them that do it for the money. That being said, there's a big bonus awaiting graduates of the Illinois State Police academy beginning July 1.
The state of Illinois has made a commitment to increasing the quality of candidates for the state police force. According to a press release, they're truly putting their money where their mouth is with what's about to begin as of July 1, 2024. It says "the Illinois State Police (ISP) is now offering just over $90,000 in starting compensation for all new troopers". Wow. Cha-ching.
Here is the exact wording of the offer for future Illinois State Police officers:
"Effective July 1, 2024, new troopers will earn a total amount of compensation above $90,000 upon graduation from the Illinois State Police Academy"
I really did consider getting into law enforcement a couple decades ago. I did not and that appears to have been a poor decision on my part.
If you have the heart and determination for a career in the Illinois State Police force, you can find out more including filling out an application through the Illinois Trooper website. It could pay you very well if you have the right stuff.
