I have mowed lawns since I was old enough to push one. Spoiler Alert - that's a VERY long time. That's why I was mighty impressed when I learned that one place in Illinois was just ranked as one of the top 20 cities in America for big yards.

I would also like to add that my dad never owned a riding mower that I can remember. Since I was the one pushing the mower, not having a riding mower was not a problem, but I digress.

This is a recent ranking by Lawnstarter (you'd think they'd know lawns with a name like that). Look at #20 on their list for places with the biggest lawns.

Congratulations, Carbondale, Illinois - #20 in America for big yards. Way to go. Let's look at the area from space. That sure is a lot of yards.

Check out the full interactive Lawnstarter map and you can see Danville also made the top 50. Wait, were they measuring yards or "grass" (*wink wink*).

If you've ever had to deal with a big yard, you know they're pretty to look at and a pretty big hassle to manage sometimes. One rental we had in Quincy had a rough yard that was like trying to mow the side of a mountain. Perhaps these Carbondale, Illinois yards are flat and perfectly rectangle and easy to mow. If so, I envy them.
