Yelp just released its list of the Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants 2024 in the US, and the number one spot on the list belongs to a place called Penumbra in Chicago, Illinois! What makes Penumbra the most romantic restaurant in the US? On Yelp, they say...

"What’s more romantic than a private table for 2 tucked behind a curtain? At Chicago’s Penumbra (named for a partial shadow), the stage is absolutely set for romance, with half the restaurant and wine bar devoted to dim lighting, twinkling lights, intimate tables encased in flowing curtains, and an overall “sexy, romantic vibe.” Multiple Yelpers appreciate the 5-star food without the price tag. “It’s a very affordable steakhouse that’s intimate but not pretentious,”

They go on to mention how Penumbra has everything from steak, seafood, and vegetarian options. And Penumbra is not the ONLY restaurant from Illinois in the top 100, the others are #12 Bavette’s Bar & Boeuf (in Chicago), #52 Ciccio Mio (in Chicago), and #57 Il Porcellino (in Chicago). Did they get it right?

I have never been to Penumbra but from the look of the website, and the menu, I can see why it was ranked #1 on this list! Some of the things on the menu I would love to try are the Creole Jalapeno Shrimp, the Flat Iron Steak, and the Molten Brandy Truffle dessert!
