According to a new list from Lawn Love called 2024's Snowiest Counties, the snowiest county in Missouri is Boone County. Boone County ranks as the snowiest in Missouri but only the 147th snowiest county in the US, the only other counties in Missouri that make the top 256 snowiest are St. Louis City at 163rd, Jackson County at 166th, and Greene County at 167th. On the site, they say...

"Where in the U.S. can snow pile up the most during the winter months?...We compared 256 counties by historical snowfall records — including annual snowfall, 1-day, and 3-day records. We also considered the average historical annual temperature and the number of days with temperatures below freezing."

The site says that Boone County ranks 147th in snowfall and 137th in climate, this ranking isn't based purely on which counties saw the most snow last year, it is based on a number of different factors, to see the complete list for yourself and examine the data, click here!

More on Boone County

Boone County is the home of Columbia, Missouri, and according to Wikipedia, it is the state's 8th most populated county. Why is it the snowiest county in Missouri? Besides the data that Lawn Love came up with, I would add that Boone County is in the north-central part of the state, has lots of wildlife area, and borders the Missouri River, maybe that plays a factor in why it is the "snowiest" county in Missouri. Do you think they got it right?
