2 of the 100 Best Restaurants in the US are in Illinois
Neither restaurant is located in the Windy City, but both are worth traveling for according to the experts! Which two restaurants in the Land of Lincoln found themselves on Yelp's exclusive 100 Best Restaurants in 2024 list? Here are the details...
According to Yelp's list of the Top 100 US Restaurants 2024, the only 2 restaurants from the Land of Lincoln on the list are the New Village Gastro Pub in Northbrook, Illinois, and the Habibi In Mediterranean Grill in Evanston, Illinois. Both restaurants were ranked daily low on this exclusive list, New Village ranked 74th while Habibi ranked 76th. What makes them the best of the best in the Land of Lincoln?
Yelp says this about the New Village Gastro Pub...
"Customers are transported to a pocha (a Korean street food stall) upon entering this gastropub, inconspicuously tucked into a strip mall. Modern takes on traditional Korean dishes abound, including Sea Snail and Squid Muchim (sea snails and vegetables in a sweet and spicy sauce, served with squid and noodles)"
And Yelp says this about the Habibi In Mediterranean Grill...
"This moderately priced college-town favorite serves Middle Eastern staples, including falafel that multiple reviewers call the best they’ve ever had. Dive into a heaping plate of chicken or beef shawarma (rotisserie-style, thinly sliced meat) served with rice or salad, or sink your teeth into a pillowy Gyro or Falafel Sandwich served with Middle Eastern pickles and fresh veggies."

Yelp may have screwed this up...
Yelp is a fantastic resource for a lot of things, but I couldn't be more disappointed with this list...Chicago is widely considered one of the culinary capitals of the WORLD and there are NO restaurants from the Windy City on this list??? Habibi In looks delicious I will admit, but is it better than places like Chicago Cut or Kuma's Corner? I appreciate them thinking outside the box for this list but it is loaded with California and Florida obscure spots...Do you think they got it right?
