You would think that living in Michigan would mean we have some of the best drivers in America. We have to navigate potholes, winter storms, and we even require all new drivers to go to school.

But it turns out, according to data from Wallethub, some of America's worst drivers live right here in Michigan

I'll be honest, on three separate occasions yesterday on my drive home, I was almost hit by people doing something super illegal. So, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this is the case. However, the worst drivers in America aren't going to be found here in West Michigan.

What city in Michigan has the worst drivers?

According to data from Wallethub, Detroit drivers have been named the third worst in America.

A lot of their data is derived from badly maintained roads, which if you've ever driven around the D, you have probably had to dodge a few pot holes, especially on the side streets. However, some of the roads in the downtown area are also cluttered with debris, which is also extremely dangerous.

A lot of the problem with Detroit drivers comes from general road safety, likelihood of accidents and lack of access to cars in general. So while you may not be as likely to be in an accident, you are more likely to hit something like a pot hole, which will cause damage to your car.

It was the only city in Michigan to make the list, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are off the hook. So be careful out there, and watch out for the insanity.

But hey, maybe we aren't the worst after all...
