You can go ahead and judge me after say this, (I fully expect you to), but I have officially hit the part of summer where I start dreaming of Fall fun. Correction, it's officially the time where I start dreaming of Fall TREATS.

Some local orchards like Valley Orchard in Cherry Valley and Curran's Orchard in Rockford have already opened for cherry and raspberry picking, but those are popular summer treats and mostly picked over. Now that we're approaching the back half of the summer season, I'm shifting into cider mode. Apple cider, cider donuts, apple pies, I'm more than ready to devour them all. So...did you know that Curran's Orchard in Rockford is already serving their beloved fall treats with a bit of a summer twist?!?

If you didn't notice the most important part of the above post, because you were too focused on the donut delicious pictured in the bags behind the slushies, please allow me to point out again Curran's summer treats will only be available on Fridays and Saturday mornings through July 31st. If you can't make it to Curran's Orchard before the end of July, don't worry, they will officially reopen for the Fall season on Saturday August 22nd!

One last thing, if you fully intend to check out all of the orchard fun the Stateline area has in store for you this Fall, here's the opening dates for some other Fall favorites that have already been announced:

  • Edwards Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove, IL - Friday, August 27
  • Edwards Apple Orchard West in Winnebago, IL - Friday, August 27
  • Jonamac Orchard in Malta, IL - Wednesday, August 18
