Illinois Native Scores Her First Olympic Gold Medal
Take a break from all the negativity in the world this week and let's celebrate this woman's first gold medal victory!
When I was little, I wanted to be an Olympic figure skater. I even signed up for ice skating lessons, but of course, I had a weird issue and could only skate backwards, so that dream was over.
But, that dream came true for Illinois Native Kendall Coyne.
Kendall is from Orland Park, Illinois and posted her gold medal photo just over ten hours ago on Facebook.
Kendall is part of the now Gold Medal Winning, US Women's Hockey Team, who beat Canada for the first time in 20 years.
Team USA hasn't had the best Olympics this time around, but we'll say this golden win was a huge one for all of the US athletes at the games this year, especially the Women's Hockey Team and Kendall.
Huge congrats from all of us in Rockford!
