Illinois Beer Dubbed One of America’s Best New Brews for 2022
New beers get rolled out every day across the US, but only a few are recognized as some of the best in America.
That's what's so great about living where we do. We're so close to Wisconsin, and near Chicago, two of the best spots for beer in America.
Even just outside of Rockford, Generations Brewing Company beer is really good, in town we've got Prairie Street Brewing Company, and if you want to drive past The Windy City, you can try a Gumball Head or Zombie Dust at 3 Floyds Brewing Co. in Munster, Indiana.
While all of those are really fabulous options for beer, there's only one that was named one of America's greatest new beers for 2022.
According to a story by 24/7 Tempo where they highlighted the 30 Best New Beers Made in America, a well-known Chicago brewery had one of their latest products mentioned.
Ranked as the 6th best new beer in America, Goose Island's Bourbon County Brand Reserve Blanton's Stout sounds like the goods.
Our goal each and every year is to uphold the integrity of Greg Hall’s recipe and make the best Bourbon County Stout possible—and this year is no exception. Our rich Imperial Stout is blended from a mix of bourbon barrels from distilleries such as Heaven Hill, Wild Turkey, and Buffalo Trace, each aged in freshly emptied bourbon barrels for 8-14 months. Expect flavors of chocolate and vanilla, oak, whiskey, and molasses, followed by caramel, berry fruit, and almond.
It may be delicious but you should hold on to your hats. This Goose Island beer seems like it's of the one-and-done variety because it's checking in at a preposterous, 15.40% Alcohol by Volume (ABV).
In case you're wondering, the standard ABV for the average beer is about 5%.
I'm no math wizard but one Bourbon County Brand Reserve Blanton's Stout is crammed with over three times the normal amount of alcohol in regular beers.
