Illinois 2020 College Grads Get to Walk With Cap and Gown THIS YEAR!
I had a graduating high school senior last year....No ceremony, no turning of the tassel, no inspirational speech. So I rented a limo and we made our own fun. While my son had a great time, walking across the stage is symbolic of finishing school and carrying on with your life.
Illinois college grads of 2020 are getting a chance to participate in the ceremony that they missed last year. SunTimes
The Illinois colleges that are participating and allowing the 2020 grads to comeback, includes U of I, Illinois State, Northern, Southern and Eastern Illinois. So if know a college grad from last year, have them contact their school about walking!
Each school will have their own way to do this, but the majority will be opening up their football stadiums for a "redo" graduation ceremony.

University of Illinois Chicago was met with a petition, that was signed by almost 10,000 members of the class of 2020 to let them experience graduation. UIUC will do a virtual graduation for the class of 2021, BUT 2020 and 2021 grads can bring up to four guests for a private "in person" ceremony that will run about fifteen minutes.
Congratulations, again, to the graduating seniors...You may turn your tassel, finally.
