A big announcement was made this afternoon regarding Thanksgiving shopping at CherryVale Mall.

In a press release, President and CEO of CBL & Associates Properties Inc., Stephen Lebovitz said,

We want to bring back the excitement of Black Friday shopping as the true start of the holiday shopping season and allow our employees, retailers, and shoppers to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families."

The closing of the CherryVale Mall on Thanksgiving Day announcement is on the heels of other popular mall chains making the same announcement.

Stores opening on Thanksgiving Day caused outrage over recent years. This has caused many retailers to adjust their stance regarding the family oriented holiday.

There is a popular hashtag going around to support the closure of retail locations across the country. Search Twitter #MakeThanksgivingYours for more information.
