When I read that one of the largest home improvement retailers in America was going to shut down every single location from coast-to-coast, I wondered why I hadn't heard a single thing about that retailer having serious financial difficulties, like we see with so many other places that are closing their doors.

Then, I noticed the announcement stating that the closings were for only one, single day.

This particular home improvement retailer has a total of 1,751 stores across the country, with 36 of them in Illinois, 8 in Wisconsin, 11 in Iowa, 43 in Indiana, and 46 in Missouri. The state with the most locations is Texas, where you'll find 142, then comes Florida with 132.

So, who is it, and why are they closing up shop for a day? It's these guys.

Okay, If Lowe's Isn't In Financial Trouble (They're Not), Why Are They Shutting Down Every Single Location For A Day?

It's because they want to do something nice for their employees (if you even call them that anymore. It's now become "associates" everywhere) and their employees families on a special day.

Newsweek.com:

"I'm extremely proud of the commitment of our 300,000 associates who support our communities while providing excellent customer service—not only in spring, but all year-round. In recognition of our teams' continued hard work, we are pleased to provide a well-deserved day off so they can spend Easter with their loved ones," said Marvin Ellison, Lowe's chairman and CEO in a statement.

Lowe's has done this for years, and they're not the only ones.
