High Health Risk: Illinois-Based Frozen Pizza Launches Recall
Another day, another product recall. This time the product being recalled is actually one of Illinois' favorite frozen food items, and one that I'm pretty certain is sitting in our freezer at home.
With more and more people looking to save money any way that they can, many have made the switch to frozen pizza at home instead getting it delivered, but there's also that portion of the population that simply really likes frozen pizza (and this particular pizza is really good when you do it on your outdoor grill!)
Woodbridge, Illinois' Home Run Inn Frozen Foods Is Recalling Around 13,000 Pounds Of Frozen Meat Pizza Product That May Be Contaminated
So, what kind of contamination are we talking about? According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the Home Run Inn pizzas may be contaminated with "extraneous materials, specifically metal."
The problem was discovered when Home Run Inn Frozen Foods notified FSIS that it had received consumer complaints reporting metal was found in the pizza.

The USDA's FSIS Says That There Have Been No Reports Of Injuries Or Adverse Reactions, But You Still Shouldn't Eat It
The USDA has classified the recall as a Class I, which means that it's a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences, or death.
The recall covers Home Run Inn Frozen Food's 33.5 ounce cartons containing "Chicago's Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza." The products were produced on June 6, 2022, with the "best by" date "12/03/22." The recalled products also bear the establishment number "EST. 18498-A" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Here's What To Do If You Have One Or More Of These Frozen Pizzas At Home
According to the latest information on the USDA's FSIS website, the FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers or found at distributor and retail locations:
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. Additionally, distributors and retailers are urged not to sell these products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
