Beware Of Flood Damaged Cars Coming To Rockford’s Used Car Lots
It wouldn't be America if someone wasn't trying to take advantage of people after a natural disaster.
Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White has issued a warning to any potential car buyers to beware of purchasing a car that has flood damage.
Hurricane Harvey has caused major flooding in Texas and Hurrican Irma looks like it will do the same in Florida. This means that people will be trying to pass off these flood damaged vehicles as undamaged.
There are two things you can do to avoid getting taken advantage of. First, you should thoroughly check the interior of the car. Lift up mats. See if you can peel back any of the upholstery. The second and better option would be to check the national registry to see if the vehicle you're interested in has any history of flood damage. That registry can be found here.
