The Lydia Urban Academy is in danger of having to shut its doors at year's end and the IceHogs are trying to fix that.

Lydia Urban Academy is a specialized school for students in the greater Rockford area promoting unique educational curriculum and job skills training. They must raise $40,000 to keep its doors open through the end of the year. The academy's goal is to assist students in becoming successful, contributing members of the community through education and mentoring.

That is where the IceHogs jump in. They are starting a promotion called "Fridays are for Lydia" to benefit the academy beginning Friday, December 30. Charity tickets for IceHog games will be sold for all Friday home games through the remainder of the season. Tickets are $15.50 for seats located in the upper end zones. You can purchase them at the box office or at IceHogs.com using the promo code "Lydia."

The academy will also have a table on the concourse during the Friday home games to answer any additional questions. For more information about the academy please visit lydiarockford.org.
