Whether you're someone who'd rather see Halloween moved to the last Saturday in October, or a traditionalist who wants Halloween to stay right where it is on October 31st, you've got to admit that Halloween on a Friday works out pretty well for those who really get into the spooky season.

Halloween night is creeping up fast here in Northern Illinois, and this year, it lands on a Friday (2 days from now), which means plenty of time for costumes, candy, and maybe a late-night horror movie once the sugar rush kicks in.

If you’ve got little ghosts and superheroes ready to hit the sidewalks, here’s the good news: most towns around here will have trick-or-treat hours between 4 and 8 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025. A few wrap up early, a few go a bit later.

Keep It Safe And Have An Awesome Night

Local police and fire departments ask everyone to keep it safe by bringing flashlights, sticking to sidewalks, and making sure drivers can see those costumes. If you’re behind the wheel between 6pm and 7pm, make sure you slow down because that’s the “prime candy rush hour.

And remember, porch light on means you’re handing out goodies; porch light off means you’re sitting this one out.

Whether you’re out with the kids, hosting a spooky party, or just guarding the candy bowl, here’s to a fun, safe, and sweet Halloween across Northern Illinois. Stay warm, stay visible, and have a great time!
