A couple of interesting wrinkles in Illinois politics emerged today, both on the Republican side of the aisle.

State Senator Kirk Dillard joined Riley and me Friday morning to discuss his campaign for Governor.  He opened up a line of attack of Bruce Rauner, taking aim at his fundraising sources and decision to bust the self-funding cap:

No one has ever spent or taken as much special interest or out-of-state money as Bruce Rauner in a primary in the history of Illinois...Crain's Chicago Business just reported that he got four huge contributions from some mysterious address in Colorado.  And his fundraising gets curiouser and curiouser all the time.  He's so rich he's blown through the caps and he believes that the law applies to everybody but himself in his personal life, his professional life, and now his political life.

The comments above come at about the 7-minute mark of the full interview posted here:

Meanwhile, the Illinois U.S. Senate race also got a little more interesting today as GOP State Senator Jim Oberweis made it offical -- he's in:

No doubt it will be tough for the GOP nominee to knock off Sen. Dick Durbin in 2014, but with Obamacare proving to be more unpopular by the day and no end in sight for the negative stories surrounding its rollout... well, being one of the loudest proponents of passing the bill in the first place can't be a comfortable place to be.
