The steady climb in gas prices finally took a momentary break.

According to GasBuddy, the price of gas in Rockford actually fell 3 cents last week to the local average of $2.85 per gallon.

That drops aligns itself with the national average falling about a nickel over the same period.

The Great Lakes has seen prices drop 30-50 cents per gallon at individual stations since the start of October, leading decliners.

While the drop is nice, we are still about 40 cents higher a gallon than we were last year.

This is also the highest gas has been since 2014, when the price of gas topped 3 dollars a gallon.
