Former Chicago Cubs Star’s $300,000 Sports Car Stolen By Hackers
If you're going to have a car stolen from you, it might as well be something notable so that more people become aware of the theft and can potentially help the police find it for you.
In the case of a former Chicago Cubs superstar and World Series champion, the stolen car certainly checks all the boxes for a memorable vehicle. As a matter of fact, this particular car was social media's most popular car model of 2022, with over 1.4 million social media posts containing its name in a hashtag, and it's been wildly popular since its introduction back in 2014.
Oh, and the most popular color of it in America is this color:
The Lamborghini Huracán, With Its Advanced Aerodynamics, Lightweight Carbon Fiber Construction, And V10 Engine, Has A Top Speed Of Over 202 MPH, Can Accelerate From 0-60 In 2.5 Seconds, And Go From Zero To 125 MPH In Just 9 Seconds
And, as this guy can tell you, disappear faster than you ever thought possible when some bad guys get involved:
Former Chicago Cubs Superstar Kris Bryant Was Just Trying To Get His Car From Point-A To Point-B, But It Appears That Some Hackers Had Other Ideas About It
There are several models of the Lamborghini Huracán, but none of the stories I've seen about this theft have been super-specific about which one KB owns. The one thing that reporters have been specific about is the price-tag on Bryant's stolen Lambo. The number currently being repeated is $300,000.
According to published reports, Kris Bryant, who currently plays for the Colorado Rockies, lives in a place called Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, while keeping another house in his hometown of Las Vegas. KB wanted to have his Lamborghini Huracán moved from Colorado to Vegas, so he hired a company that does these sorts of things.
Someone picked up his car in Colorado, but it never arrived in Las Vegas. Investigators said hackers infiltrated the company the former Chicago Cubs player used to transport his car and the vehicle was re-routed to a different location in Las Vegas.
Police eventually tracked down the vehicle and the man driving the car. Police found a suspect and charged them with operating a multi-state vehicle theft ring. Police identified several other people associated with the theft ring and they located a number of other stolen vehicles during their investigation.
