Early voting starts today in Illinois.

For the first time, you won’t have to show photo identification to vote early, and early voting hours will also be extended in most counties. Gov. Pat Quinn believes these changes set Illinois apart from other states.

“Some states are trying to restrict how people vote, w’re trying to expand voting and make it easier for people who wanna exercise their franchise.  I believe in that.  I believe in democracy,” Quinn said.

You don’t need a give a reason why you’re voting early, but you will have to do it in person.  Local election authorities determine the locations for early voting.  You can find where that location is in your county by visiting the State Board of Elections website at elections.state.il.us.
