One of America’s Most Unique Vending Machines Might Be Hidden In Illinois
Nostalgia is in high demand right now and doesn't look to be going away for a minute. Why is this? What is with the obsession? American Psychological Association shared a lengthy explanation of why society seems to be caught up in nostalgia, according to professor of psychology, Krystine Batcho, Ph.D.
In short, nostalgia brings us back to who we were and the times we loved compared to how we live and who we are today.
Nostalgia by motivating us to remember the past in our own life helps to unite us to that authentic self and remind us of who we have been and then compare that to who we feel we are today.
You can read the full article here if you feel like deep-diving into the subject but, seriously, who has time for that?
Instead, how about checking out a vending machine that has a bunch of the past readily available to you that doesn't require hundreds of dollars?
The thing about buying what some may call "vintage" items can be the costs. Depending on what you're looking to purchase, some sellers slap serious prices on items from the past, specifically the 90s and early 2000s. If you want some pieces from your past I think I found the perfect place for you to peruse.
There's a vending machine in Illinois that is filled with blasts from the past. You got to appreciate the Blockbuster-esque labels, the "Y2K Complaint" sticker, and the prices for each item, all of which are $2.
Inside and waiting for you to buy are VHS tapes, like Robin Hood, St. Elmo's Fire, and Backstreet Buys. There are old trading cards for games like Pokémon and MAGIC. A New Kids On The Block cassette tape, some CDs, and more.
You can find it inside Don Carter Lanes in Rockford, Illinois at 4007 East State Street on the west end of the building.
