The Discovery Center in Rockford, IL is set to have an exciting year with a variety of events for families to enjoy. From space-themed adventures to exploring the world of engineering, there's something for everyone at the Discovery Center.

One of the highlights of the winter and spring season is the Galaxy Adventures event on January 22. This event invites families to journey through hyperspace to different worlds, practice their Jedi skills, and learn about the ways of the Force. Attendees can mingle with costumed characters, launch a rocket, play "Floor is Water" with Lilo, and more. Galactic attire is encouraged for this day of imaginative fun.

Another exciting event is the Celebration of Black Culture on February 4. This event celebrates Black achievements in history, science, art, and sports. Families can participate in hands-on experiments, discover educational displays throughout the museum, and contribute to a collaborative art project that will be on display all month.

The Discovery Town Opening event on February 11 is another must-see. The kid-size city is back at the Discovery Center, allowing children to be the shopkeepers and grownups to be the customers. Attendees can take their pets to the vet clinic for a checkup, see a theatrical performance, enjoy a pizza, board a plane, fight a fire, and skate at the town park. Firefighters from Rockford Fire Department will also be on hand and will have a fire truck in the parking lot.

On February 25, the Discover Engineering event will wrap up National Engineers Week with dozens of professional engineers from local firms. Families can engage their brain and conquer fun challenges, meet high school robotics teams, and enjoy special science demonstrations.

The Ag All Around Us event on March 11 is another great opportunity for families to learn about agriculture and farming. Attendees can meet local farmers, create barnyard crafts, peek at some barnyard babies, and get hands on with where our food comes from.

Spring into Science is a week-long event that will take place from March 20-24, March 27-31 and April 3-7. Families can explore the universe with a planetarium show, create springtime crafts and art, and engage their brain with science demonstrations.

Finally, the Egg-stravaganza event on April 8 is a fun event for children ages 9 and younger to look for eggs, fill their baskets with yummy treats and participate in fun Easter-themed activities.

All events include activities, demonstrations, make-and-take projects, and performances. Admission for all events is $10/Adult; $10/Child; Free to Members and all children ages one and younger. The Discovery Center Museum is a great place for families to have fun and learn something new. With a wide range of events, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
