"I may have reached that point in life where I don't have to do anything that isn't fun." A great quote from one of my all-time favorite performers, Dick Van Dyke. He was referring to the great time and fun he was having at The Grove in Las Angeles on Sunday.

Arranged by his wife, Arlene, the 90 year old Van Dyke was treated to a flash mob that performed songs from "Mary Poppins," while he sang along from a balcony above. He then joined the group of admirers to belt out one more song.

Dick Van Dyke was born in West Plains, Missouri, but grew up in Danville, Illinois. It's pretty amazing to note that his classmates included Donald O'Connor and Bobby Short, who both went on to be incredibly successful entertainers, and that he was close friends with Gene Hackman, who also lived in Danville at the time.

Happy 90th to a guy who, pound for pound, is one of the greatest entertainers many of us have ever been lucky enough to see.
