According to WalletHub.com, Chicago ranks as the 3rd best city in the country for Attractions and Activities to do over the 4th of July Holiday behind only New York City, and San Francisco. Overall, Chicago ranks as the site's 13th best city to spend the 4th of July weekend, number 1 is San Francisco followed by Los Angeles, Washington DC, Atlanta, and Las Vegas rounding out the top 5. On the site WalletHub says...

"In order to help Americans find the best and cheapest places to celebrate this star-spangled occasion, WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities based on how well they balance holiday cost and fun. Our data set of 21 key metrics ranges from average beer and wine prices to duration of fireworks shows to the Fourth of July weather forecast."

We are lucky here in the Quincy/Hannibal Area because not only is Chicago ranked 13th overall but St. Louis comes in ranked 20th, and is considered the 8th overall best city for attractions and activities. None of this shocks me because both cities have great fireworks displays along their waterfronts, both cities have incredible free zoos, and parks, St. Louis has Union Station, and Chicago has Navy Pier, but I do agree Chicago should be ranked ahead of St. Louis because of the beaches and the beautiful lakefront swimming you can do on the hot 4th of July weekend.
