Your traveling nightmares are about to get a bit easier coming and going from Rockford.

Every day is a battle for me.

I commute each day to work here in Rockford and getting here or leaving is a daily battle. Sometimes I can hop on I-90 East and pray there is no construction. Yes, it usually takes me longer to get home than my preferred route.

My preferred route is to take I-39 South to I-88 East. Although the mileage is a bit longer, the route is much faster.

Until recently.

I-39 and US 20 Interchanges have been all sorts of messed up as of recently. It seems as if every time in the last few months that I thought I would give it a try, I end up in traffic jams, detours and I add an additional 30 minutes or so to my commute.

Things are about to change.

According to WTVO, "The Illinois Department of Transportation says that work at the I-39 interchange with US 20 at the south edge of Rockford will be open to traffic on Thursday, just ahead of the busy Labor Day weekend travel period."

Eek! That makes me so happy!

Looks like I know which way I'll be heading home tomorrow!
