If you are a frequent traveller of the Spring Center Road Bridge over I-90 in Belvidere, better plan a detour to use until the end of the year, because it is officially closed for reconstruction as of Monday, March 28.

According to the Illinois Tollway, the bridge is one of 4 local bridges scheduled to undergo reconstruction in 2016 the new, wider I-90. Both lanes of the bridge will be closed, and no detour routes will be posted. The Tollways says closing both lanes at once will allow construction to be completed faster, and that complete closure is necessary "because the bridge structure is not wide enough to maintain traffic and provide a safe work zone."

Work on the bridge is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
