State Senator Bill Brady made a final sweep through the Stateline area on Monday, with stops in Belvidere, Rockford, and Freeport.

The 2010 Republican nominee is looking for another shot at taking down Governor Pat Quinn in November. In an interview with "Riley & Scot" Brady stressed the importance of the Rockford-area to a his potential administration and praised the Rockford airport as a key economic driver for the community. We asked him if he would continue to pledge taxpayer dollars to build a third Chicagoland airport in Peotone:

I've always said that if Peotone is going to go, it's gotta be a private-sector investment. We've got enough capital investment in the public sector airports. Rockford has unlimited opportunity. Do I hope someday Peotone can have an airport? Yes, I think there's opportunities. But we've got to focus on what we can do to maximize what we already have. We can't use public-sector dollars to build something and hope they will come. Rockford's already built.
