Travel + Leisure just profiled Rockford as the location of one of the Most Romantic Places in the U.S. I was fully expecting the list to feature someplace around Chicago, but it was a spot that wouldn't be traditionally thought of as a romantic spot.

The Most Romantic Place in Illinois

Time for some year-round nature-loving romance at Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens. When the cold sets in, you can move inside the tropical vibes of the huge greenhouse.

The conservatory and gardens would make a great stop for after dinner. Just the walk along the Rock River alone is enough to make it a very memorable night.
