So here's the story about this lady Nellie Dunton...This home overlooks the Kishwaukee River. Nellie is a Belvidere native, and this love story takes an "old guy" twist and turn. Nellie fell for an older fella that was heading off to fight in the Civil War. This gentleman promised to come home to her and marry her. Well, he never came back from the battle leaving Nellie in a state of depression.

She closed down, became anti-social and refused to leave the house and to never fall in love again....Well she did leave the house, in her wedding dress. She wandered down to the Kishwaukee River and drowned. So wait, WEARING HER WEDDING DRESS she killed herself. Creepy!
