As Snow Pounded Illinois, One Mother Was Forced to Deliver Her Baby in a Parking Lot
As massive snow amounts continue to come down in the majority of Illinois, I have never been more thankful the Rockford area was excluded from this mess. I am always slightly panicked when I have to drive in the snow, and I cannot imagine the panic I would feel if I had to drive in the snow in the midst of a medical emergency.
Enter in a mother's worst nightmare...
According to ABC7 Chicago, an expectant mother from Joliet, Illinois went into labor yesterday, (Wednesday, February 2, 2022), and she and her husband basically got stranded in a Jimmy John's parking lot on their way to the hospital. OMG, can you even imagine?!?
ABC7 Chicago reports that the couple was traveling to the hospital," but the treacherous conditions from the winter storm meant they were traveling very slowly. On their way, the mother's water broke". The severity of the situation forced the couple to pull over in a Jimmy John's parking lot near Route 59 and Fort Beggs Drive to call 911. The Plainfield Fire Department responded to the call, and the situation progressed rapidly;
Every mother's birthing plan usually ends up going awry, but this one might just take the cake! The poor woman didn't even have time to get in the back seat of her car, she gave birth right there in the passenger seat. Bravo, mama, and bravo, Plainfield Fire Protection District!
Now the only question left is, what is the sweet new baby girl's name? We may never know for sure, but I do have some suggestions...Elsa? Snowflake? Blizzard? Lucky? Winter? It has to be a name fitting to her extraordinary arrival, don't ya think?
