There are pumpkin patches all over America, and some of the best are in Illinois.

The Lindberg Pumpkin Patch in Caledonia has been a spot that the family and I have been going to for years now.

There's also Edwards Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove, where there's a great selection of pumpkins and delicious apple cider donuts. Then there's Thyme and Again, a quaint farm just off of Route 2 in Rockford where there are just as many fantastic options for veggies as there are pumpkins.

While all three of those are great and well worth your time, effort, and money, there's one place in Illinois that was just named the best pumpkin patch in the United States.

According to the Daily Meal's list of the Best Pumpkin Patches in America, Seigel's Cottonwood Farm is the best in all the land.

...this farm has plenty of the usual farm activities like hayrides and zoo animals; it is the unique kid-friendly activities that shoots this farm to the top of our list. Youngsters can be entertained with the cock-a-doodle-coo puppet choir or take a ride on the train. And the older kids (and adults too!) can try their hand at zombie paintball.

Established in 1909 and located in Crest Hill, Seigel's Cottonwood Farm is such a hit, couples looking to get married are using it for the ceremony and/or the reception.

Just so you know, a trip to Cottonwood isn't a trip to your typical pumpkin patch. It almost looks like an amusement park with pumpkins. There's so much to do and see while on the farm, it makes you think they should charge to get through the gates.

Oh wait, they do. Tickets are $19.95 online and $24.95 at the door. To book, and check out all of the discounted admissions, check out ourpumpkinfarm.com/tickets for more.
